Pepper's Heritage and Uncertain Legacy

Lhasa-Poos are not pure bred dogs. They are a cross between two breeds. The Lhasa Apso and the Poodle. (Usually Miniature or Toy Poodle) They can look like either parent and they can be susceptible to the inner health problems common to either of the parent breeds.

Generally speaking, these so-called "designer dogs" are the deliberate products of controlled matings in the hope of producing small dogs with the best characteristics of both and a Hybrid Vigor that overcomes the weaknesses of either parent. You can read more at Dogbreedinfo.com. Dog lovers are polarized in a controversy over whether such breedings are a good thing.

Lhasa Apso parents are decendants of Tibetan Terriers. You can definitely see the Lhasa physical traits in Pepper's short legs, long back and terrier face, as well as in her long and wavy coat.
